Tip # ALWAYS keep ALL of your receipts!

Every so often I am going to post a few tips that will help you do that I do!

#1 Always keep all your receipts. I keep mine in an accordion folder, each store has its own slot, newest in front. At the end of the year, I put them in a box for maybe 2 months, and then chuck them! Why?? REBATES! There are sooo many rebates out there.. and sometimes I know about one, and I shop for that one, and mail it off, but sometimes I find rebates after the fact, and just pull the receipts and mail them off. Perfect example: remember my 30 bags of FREE chex mix from 2 weeks ago?? Well, Heinekin Beer has a rebate out right now, spend 5.01 in "game day snacks" get 5.00 back! Its valid in NY, and its "no beer purchase required or NBPR for short" which means, I did NOT have to buy 2 packs of Heineken to qualify.

Long post short.. my free chex mix... just became 20.00 in rebate checks in my pocket!

Where do you find these??

This one, I traded for on www.hotcouponworld.com I mailed her a few coupons I don't need, and she mailed me 4 rebate forms. The Pepsi rebate from a few weeks ago.. its stuck on the beer boxes in Quality Market!

Keep your eyes peeled!

* The register showed my total due was 20.43, so I used my 20.00 Gift of Savings, and reached for .43 cents... but then the register flew open and said she owned me 1.33!! Yep.. the store owed me money! I have said before " I was paid to shop" Meaning after rebates I made more then I spent.. but I have never actually been handed money (not change) for shopping! I asked if the cashier was sure.. but since it was the manager... she said "yep" and paid me to leave!

Looking at my receipt I see that my total was -1.45 then + .12 in tax = -1.33 !

The best part... the ritz, capri sun, and easy mac finished out a rebate!

I will submit my receipts for a 20.00 Kraft Back To school Rebate!

I also earned another 7 game pieces! AND THEN... with those 7 new pieces.. I won!! Yep... a 20.00 Rite Aid gift card! I am mailing the claim form today!

Grand total = 0.00 oop, saved 57.70, made 20.00 + 1.33 = 21.33 !!

I also stopped at Aldi for a few things, no coupons... bummer oop 40.65!

I am going to add the 1.33 from RA back into my budget for the year, and update the totals!

Tops / Wegmans 01/07

One of the things you have to do when you coupon shop is determine your "stock up price" Its the target price you want to pay for something, say .10 cents a roll for toilet paper, so when you find a sale, and it matches your "stock up price" then you STOCK UP!!

We are trying to eat healthier this year.. so I am buying more ground turkey.. which runs 4.99 lb! OUCH! So.. when I found it for 1.99lb.. it was stock up time!

Tops also had yogurt for .20 each after coupon.. thats a hot price also!

Today I got a $20.00 rebate check from Kraft. If I remember it was the buy 10 cookies or crackers, 5 easy mac and 5 caprisun, get a 20.00 rebate. I spend 6.81 on the items.. so it was a money maker of 13.91! It will be added to the money I made total, since the money spent did not come from my 3000!

Dinner Menu

Ok, when I posted how much I spend on each item for dinner ... a lot of people asked where those deals were. The problem is that all of the things I used were from deals past. I am still going to post the menus, but I wont break down the prices.

Monday - Orange Chicken, potato salad, green beans
Tuesday - Salas Burgers, corn, mashed potatoes
Wednesday - Bacon Mushroom Quiche, fruit salad
Thursday - Beef Pot Pie
Friday - Pizza night, family night
Saturday - Southwest Chicken Salad
Sunday - I am leaving this one blank.. because I think we are going out to eat one night this week!

Rebates

So, as I mentioned before, any rebated received will go back into my $3000 budget. However, I have almost $200 in outstanding rebates from 2009. I have decided to put those rebates into my savings, rather then back in to my budget.

I received the first today, for 3 bucks!
